With autumn just around the corner, there are so many ways you can “Fall” in love with Asheville. We are known for having one of the most dramatic displays of fall foliage in the country, due to our mountains and over one hundred different species of deciduous trees.

Additionally, we offer a wide variety of activities sure to please everyone. Here we offer just a few ideas. You can go to Explore Asheville for a weekly events calendar.

Wondering where to start? If you want to experience the great outdoors, check out a weekly updated fall color report. Here you can stay on top of the best hikes, drives, and deals of the fall season.

September 15, 2012 marks the opening of the new season at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. Come experience Falla’s colorful Ritual Fire Dance from the ballet El Amor Brujo.

Check out the free style mail art show at Phil Mechanic Studios.  Illustrated letters, zines, rubberstamped envelopes, postcards, naked mail, and friendship books are just some of the unique mail art on display daily.

If reading or being read to is more your thing, Malaprop’s Bookstore and Café offers events almost every day.  Check out the event lineup.

If you are ready to go wild and learn about the art of “find dining,” then a culinary treasure hunt with Alan Muskat of Bizarre Food fame is for you!  On this adventure, you will have the opportunity to literally pick your meal right on the spot.

Don’t forget Asheville Oktoberfest, October 13, 2012 in downtown Asheville.   For one delightful day, Wall Street is transformed into a “Little Germany” for our fourth annual event.  The Stratton Mountain Boys will provide yodeling songs while local breweries will provide beer tastings.

Where to stay? With a bit of planning, there are plenty of places to stay after enjoying the activities and the view. We even have a Concierge waiting to help you plan your stay. Call Elaine Rich at 828-210-2720 for travel tips.
